We all know that posting videos online is a great way to generate more traffic and customers. I’ve put this off for the usual reasons (too hard, not sure what to say, etc), but today I decided to dig into the stats. These numbers are wild:
- On X (Twitter), videos get 10x more engagement than text
- Companies that use video marketing grow their revenue 49% faster than those that don’t
- 69% of people say they’d prefer to learn about new products/services from a short video
Of course, all stats should be taken with a pinch of salt, but it’s clearly worth an experiment.
The problem with video is that it takes a lot of work. You can outsource it, but its costly, especially when you aren’t sure of the return.
- Generate background music
- Remove background noise
- Generate text captions (most people watch video without sound, so this is critical)
- Automatic zooming to add engagement
- Adjusted eye contact (I kept looking away and it fixed this up!)
- Remove pauses in speech
Here’s a video I created this week in 15m with Captions to promote our free tech audit offer: https://vimeo.com/965671167
Let’s be honest. A skilled video production agency or expert will produce something better than this. But I’m a big believer in tools that let you experiment so you can see the results. If it works? Now you can build a business case around scaling it. If it doesn’t? It’s a minor loss.
Now, time for me to go creates some videos…
